2025 Lauryn Leonard Scholarship Recipients
Taylor Warren
I served as a Hope for Suffolk intern in 2022 and currently attend Paul D. Camp Community College, with plans to transfer to VCU in 2025 to complete my degree in sonography. I love connecting with people, especially children, and learning about babies. My goal is to earn a master’s degree in sonography and work as an ultrasound technician.
Kayla Winston
I was a Hope for Suffolk intern in 2023 and a team lead in 2024. I am a senior at King’s Fork High School, a 17-year-old honor student involved in ETZ Archonette, FBLA, and NHS. Active in my school, community, and church, I plan to attend college and pursue a career in cybersecurity and information technology.
Asia Powell
I served as a Hope for Suffolk intern in 2022 and am now a senior at Virginia Commonwealth University, pursuing a career in obstetrics and gynecology. As a member of the Women’s Track and Field team, I’ve built leadership and discipline that I carry into my academic and professional goals. My lifelong dream is to open a birth and wellness center, empowering my community through holistic and faith-centered approaches to women’s reproductive health.
Journey Booker
I served as a Hope for Suffolk intern in 2024 and a team lead in 2025. This fall, I will begin my freshman year at James Madison University, majoring in Biology on the Pre-Med track. Healthcare has always been my passion, and my future motivates me to work hard each day toward becoming a medical professional.
